A Malmesbury man who was cutting grass in Durbanville, handed over live ammunition found while working to that police station.
According to police spokesperson Constable Henry du Rand, the 35-year-old man along with other workmen were cutting grass at a Durbanville home on Thursday when a bag containing the ammunition was found next to a vibracrete wall.
Du Rand says when the man opened the bag, he saw it contained ammunition and on his return home contacted local police.
Officers collected the bag and found it contained 1794 rounds.
“An inquiry docket has been opened and there are no arrests yet.”
