Rescue services were dispatched to the N7 highway near Dunoon last week where a motorist sustained a gunshot wound.
According to Community Medics, a private emergency services provider who attended to the gunshot victim, several emergency services responded to the scene including Netcare 911, and the City of Cape Town’s fire and rescue services, law enforcement and traffic services as well as AVID Security.
Kevin Jacobs, spokesperson for traffic services, told TygerBurger that they were aware of the incident but referred the newspaper to the police for further comment.
A spokesperson for the Bothasig Police Station confirmed the incident, saying that the victim was transported to hospital for medical treatment and that a criminal case had been opened which is currently under investigation.
The incident occurred on Wednesday 23 August at approximately 18:15.
“An incident occurred on the Malibongwe Drive turn-off from the N7 highway direction Malmesbury where a female victim was shot twice while two suspects tried to rob the victim of her vehicle and belongings,” the spokesperson said.
