Shoppers and passing motorists were left shocked this afternoon (Thursday 17 July) after a woman, believed to be in her 50s, drove off a bridge near Canal Walk’s Ratanga Road exit, adjacent to the Crystal Towers Hotel in Century City, Cape Town.
Emergency services responded swiftly to the call and were on the scene shortly afterwards, and the woman was treated before being transported to a nearby hospital. She was reportedly in a stable condition at the time of her transfer.
Canal Walk’s centre management confirmed to TygerBurger they were investigating the incident. At the time of posting the cause remained unclear.
“We are looking into what happened,” a spokesperson said, “but cannot comment further until we have more information,” a spokesperson said. “No other vehicles were involved and she was the only occupant in the car.”
