A Dunoon woman has died after an accident along the N7 highway on Saturday (22 April).
Traffic on the highway between the Potsdam and Plattekloof off-ramps moved slowly shortly after 08:00 as motorists slowed down after police closed one lane.
TygerBurger saw police officers on the scene and the woman’s body had been covered with a blanket. A few metres away a damaged Dunoon taxi could be seen on the highway.
Bothasig police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Jacques Mostert, says at about 06:00 the woman was crossing the highway from Dunoon making her way to Richwood when she was hit by the taxi.
At this stage, he says police have been unable to identify the woman. “The people say she is from Dunoon but don’t know her name. Bothasig police have opened a case of culpable homicide.”
Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to call Bothasig police on 021 559 9400.
