On Monday 1 October a woman, believed to be in her 30s, died
after being hit by a train at the Oosterzee Station in Oosterzee, Parrow.
“ER24 paramedics, along with the Metro Rescue, arrived on
the scene at 15:06 to find the body of a woman lying on the tracks,” says
ER24’s Russel Meiring.
According to Meiring, paramedics assessed the woman and
found that she had sustained numerous injuries and showed no signs of life.
“Unfortunately, nothing could be done for her and she was
declared dead. Fortunately, no-one on the train sustained any injuries.”
Meiring says local authorities were on the scene for further
investigations.
Captain Kevin Williams, spokesperson for Parow Police
Station, confirmed the incident. Williams says a case has been opened and
detectives have been appointed to the investigation.
