Eight-time nominee and two-time Grammy Award-winning jazz vocalist Gregory Porter is returning to South Africa to delight fans with his Love is King concert tour.
The Love is King SA 2025 Tour opens at the Grand Arena, GrandWest, on Wednesday 12 November, before moving on to Durban and Johannesburg.
“Few artists connect with South African audiences the way Gregory Porter does,” says Tony Feldman of Showtime Management. “His voice, his soul, his music — it all speaks to the heart. We can’t wait to welcome him back.”
Love
Porter’s relationship with South African fans runs deep.
He first performed here at the Joy of Jazz Festival in 2014 and 2015, and his sold-out six-date solo tour in January 2023 cemented his immense popularity. Tickets disappeared within days of release.
“For me, music has always been about a humble and honest expression of love and life. South Africa, I’m humbled by your exuberant radiant love,” Porter said on X during his 2023 visit.
“Two years later, I return with my ‘King of Love’ SA tour — a continued celebration of the incredible people of this nation.”
Album
Known for his signature cap and deep, soulful baritone, the New York-born artist blends jazz, gospel, soul and blues in a sound often compared to Nat King Cole, Donny Hathaway and Bill Withers.
In 2023, he released his first holiday album, Christmas Wish, and continues to showcase his warmth and storytelling through his podcast The Hang and cooking show The PorterHouse. Most recently, he reached the finals of BBC’s The Masked Singer UK, unmasking as runner-up “Dressed Crab”.
