Two large sculptures of Mandela’s face created by world- renowned award-winning local artist Marco Olivier have been donated and installed at the RLabs premises in Westridge, ahead of Heritage Day.

After being invited to visit the area by Ricardo Mackenzie, Provincial Minister of Cultural Affairs and Sport, earlier this week, Olivier was inspired by the upliftment and work done by RLabs and donated two bronze resin artworks to the facility.

Mackenzie visited his workshop in Kensington to view the pieces ahead of its installation on Thursday 19 September.

Mackenzie said Olivier’s interaction with the youth on his visit, accompanied by the new Italian Minister of Art and Culture Alessandro Giuli, has left a lasting impression.

According to Olivier the importance of Mandela’s legacy will be replicated, the youth being the next generation of Mandelas.
