Theft at restaurants, especially of handbags, is still a concern in Durbanville, said Captain Marchell Rhode, spokesperson for the Durbanville police.

In the latest incident on Friday 23 June at about 19:00 a woman’s handbag was stolen from right under her table at the Viva Mexico Restaurant.

The woman discovered that her handbag with valuables was taken from under her table.

Video footage revealed how three women were walking away with a small girl with the handbag in her hands.

The victim reported a case of theft of her handbag and laptop to the value of R14 500.

Rhode warned that people must not leave their handbags unattended.

No suspects has been arrested at this stage, he said.
