The Glenwood Neighbourhood Watch continues its mission of spreading kindness, now teaming up with the OK Mini Market in Tygerdal to bring warmth and nourishment to the residents of Protea Old Age Home in Goodwood.

“Together, we’re contributing towards 20 loaves of freshly baked bread every week, putting smiles on the faces of our beloved seniors. This joint Outreach Programme is our way of showing we care and giving back to our community,” says Tracy Alberts, deputy chair of the Glenwood Neighbourhood Watch.

Alberts explains that after three years of dedicated service, their outreach programme at Acacia Primary School came to a close as the school learners were relocated. “We’re deeply grateful for the opportunity to have made a difference and thankful for the principal’s heartfelt appreciation of our efforts. As one chapter ends, we were eager to begin another, exploring new ways to serve and make a positive impact,” says Alberts.

The search for a new community initiative led the team to Protea Old Age Home, where their offer to provide fresh bread was met with enthusiasm. In February, they began weekly deliveries, ensuring the elderly residents received nourishment and comfort.

“We’re grateful to continue spreading kindness and making a difference in our community,” concludes Alberts.
