SPCA Cape of Good Hope Chief Inspector Jaco Pieterse and Inspector Lwazi Ntungele, acting on a warrant, discovered dozens of cats living in “deplorable” conditions at a supposed rescue organisation in Ruyterwacht.

In a video describing the incident, the organisation’s chief inspector Jaco Pieterse, says they found cats confined in what they called severely unsanitary surroundings, a situation they described as both deeply concerning and heartbreaking.

“On a previous visit, animals were hidden from view, which led us to take further action, including obtaining a warrant to search the property. What we found today has left us shocked and saddened,” Pieterse says.
