In the aftermath of a severe level-8 storm, GrandWest Casino experienced localised flooding today. Fortunately, it was confined to a passage outside the smoker’s casino, with no impact on the equipment inside.
Following swift mopping-up operations, the casino has resumed normal operations. However, as a precautionary measure due to predicted further rain, parts of the passage in The District area have been temporarily closed.
According to Enid Vickers, a public relations officer at GrandWest, engineers and technicians were on site assessing the damage to the roof. “Despite the incident, GrandWest management is relieved that the damage is minimal compared to the widespread impact observed in Goodwood, which appears to have been an epicentre of the storm.”
Reports indicate numerous flooded roads and significant damage to homes and businesses in the area. “GrandWest extends its sympathy to all affected by the storm,” Vickers said, “and remained committed to ensuring the safety and comfort of its patrons.”
