UPDATE: The “runaway” truck leaves two injured

“The truck seems to have rolled over the driver’s legs when he jumped out.”

A truck driver was left badly injured when he jumped out of the truck he was driving in Durban Road, Bellville on Thursday 8 February, causing an accident and damaging vehicles from a nearby dealership.

According to Maxine Bezuidenhout from the Metro police, the driver jumped out of truck allegedly due to brake failure.

About six vehicles and the truck were damaged during the accident.

Lying in the middle of the road, with paramedics from ResQ Medix and City EMS attending to him, the driver of the truck had injured both his legs and had few other injuries on his body.

According to a reliable source on the scene, the truck seems to have rolled over the driver’s legs when he jumped out.

The driver was taken away by ambulance while another injured person was attended to by paramedics.

One witness who wished to remain anonymous said she was at her workplace when she saw the truck driving past the building into the vehicles parked outside Hyundai dealership.
