A mother of a Kuils River girl (4) was recently arrested for allegedly falsely reporting that the child was kidnapped, police said on Thursday (16 November).
Kuils River police spokesperson, Captain Isaac van Niekerk says the girl was with her father when the mother reported the case to the police.
“The little girl is at home safe. Her father brought her home after the mother claimed that she was kidnapped.”
Van Niekerk says the mother has been charged with perjury.
The little girl was reported kidnapped on Wednesday 1 November around 16:30. Two people appeared in the Blue Downs court on Monday 6 November for the alleged kidnapping.
“The two people were released after it was discovered that the mother had lied,” he said.
The mother has appeared in court.
