The community is abuzz with anticipation for the 11th installment of their community performing arts film series, ‘Uncle Billy’, which is set to premiere today (Wednesday 25 September) on the Touched By Style community arts projects YouTube channel.

The first episode of the seven-part short film series, The Cats, The Claw and The Whiteman, will launch on the Touched By Style community arts projects YouTube channel. Production began in June, and the series boasts 16 participants, offering a thrilling mix of action, stunts, and high-adrenaline scenes. It serves as a platform for budding young actors to display their talents in a performance filled with talented young stars.

Diverse communities

The initiative, spearheaded by Norman Diedricks and overseen by Patrick Lategan, CEO of Touched By Style, aims to bring together talented individuals from diverse communities.

“It offers them a unique chance to hone their skills, work together seamlessly, and engage in the creative process of filmmaking. Despite facing challenges such as intensive preparations, rehearsals, financial limitations, and scheduling issues, the ‘Uncle Billy’ project has overcome these obstacles, resulting in a showcase of the remarkable talents that have contributed to its success,” says Lategan.

Norman Diedricks says they embarked on this community project with a leap of faith, bolstered by support from schools, small businesses, and their own funds.

“It has been a learning experience, teaching us that winners never quit, quitters never win, and that perseverance is essential for progress,” says Diedericks.

Storyline

The film’s storyline follows Uncle Billy, who is on a quest to uncover his true identity and hidden past.

He pursues a man known as Whiteman, who possesses crucial information. An ex-military group launches a violent attack against him at a school, seeking to eliminate him for reasons yet to be revealed.

Despite this, Uncle Billy’s tenacity allows him to survive and strengthens his resolve to discover the motive behind the attack. Moreover, Uncle Billy emerges as a formidable anti-hero as he battles the criminals.

“In our upcoming performing arts initiatives, we plan to scale up to accommodate the community’s growing desire for involvement. We are calling on filmmakers to generate a variety of film opportunities,” says Lategan.
