The Delft Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) Unit need the public’s assistance in locating the whereabouts of two taxi drivers wanted for rape.
According to provincial police spokesperson Nothemba Pinkie Batwa, a man is wanted in connection with a rape incident which occurred in Umfuli Street, Delft on 20 October last year.
“The rape happened at about 21:00 when the victim was on her way to her friend. An unknown taxi driver stopped close to the victim and asked her to get inside his taxi. The victim ran away but the taxi driver caught her, forced her into the taxi and drove away. He later stopped and raped her, using a condom.”
She says in another case, a taxi driver is wanted in connection with a rape incident which occurred in an open field in Delft.
“According to the victim, on Friday 22 December last year at about 02:00, she was hitch-hiking on the corner of Borcherds Quarry Road and the N2 highway, where she received a lift from a taxi driver.
“It is alleged that the taxi driver took her to The Hague, Delft where there is an open field and raped her inside the White Toyota Quantum taxi.”
Batwa says both suspects are unknown and identikits have been compiled in an attempt to locate them.
