Two suspects who were found with diamonds worth R1 million in their possession are set to appear in the Cape Town Magistrate’s Court.
The duo was arrested on Tuesday 25 July by members of the police’s Stabilisation Unit who followed up on information they had received.
Sergeant Noloyiso Rwexana, a provincial police spokesperson says, the men, both aged 25 years, was arrested in Table View.
“The arrest was made in a shopping centre on Tuesday at 14:00. The duo was found to be in possession of 15 unpolished diamonds worth an estimated street value of R1 million,” Rwexana says.
The two are facing charges of illegal possession of unpolished diamonds and once charged, they will appear in court.
The case is being investigated by the Hawks.
