The vigilance of Parow police officers has seen two suspects arrested for being in possession of abalone on Tuesday 17 July.

According to provincial police spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel André Traut, members of the Crime Prevention Unit were on patrol when they spotted a suspicious vehicle in De Tyger Road. This prompted them to investigate further.

“A search of the vehicle led to the discovery of 74 units of abalone with a street value of about R13 800,” says Traut.

The two occupants of the vehicle were arrested and will make a court appearance once they have been charged
