Three people was arrested after being identified in an armed robbery that took place in Parow on Saturday 3 February.

Parow police spokesperson Captain Kevin Williams says, the victim was approached by a woman who asked for a cigarette,
while walking across the Jan van Riebeeck bridge.

“After that the victim walked on. The woman then started to scream that she’s being robbed by the victim. Two men ran towards the victim and swore at him. One of the men took out a weapon looking like a firearm. He cocked the firearm twice while the other suspect was standing with a lock and chain in his hand,” says Williams in a statement.

The victim was then robbed of his bag and hit over his head with an unknown object. It’s believed the trio then escaped on their bicycles towards Elsies River.

On Tuesday 6 February, the victim walked over the same bridge and spotted the trio who had robbed him: “During that time police were patrolling and when the victim saw the suspects he immediately informed the officers, who arrested the suspects,” explains Williams.

The trio, aged between 27 and 32, have been charged with pointing of a firearm and armed robbery.
