Flowing traffic during peak hour on the N1 near the Jip de Jager outbound is restored following an accident earlier this afternoon (Tuesday 20 August).
A bakkie reportedly lost its load around 13:00 pulled by a trailer on the highway direction of Paarl. The City’s Traffic Service spokesperson Kevin Jacobs said the road has been reopened and flowing slowly after Fire and Rescue Services deemed the scene safe.
It was confirmed earlier that the load carried by the bakkie contained flammable liquid, resulting in the closure.
Motorists are advised to expect delays.
Alternatively, motorists are urged to avoid the N1 until further notice by using alternative routes.
