An informal trader has thrown herself under a Law Enforcement vehicle in Bellville in an attempt to evade arrest.
According to a source, Law Enforcement officers were conducting an operation aimed at tackling illegal traders and bylaw transgressions at Middestad Mall on Wednesday afternoon (18 January) when an upset trader started getting irate and “showing off”, and ended up throwing herself under the Law Enforcement vehicle.
Law Enforcement principal inspector, Wayne Dyason, confirms the incident and says they are currently (at 16:45) waiting for assistance from the Bellville police.
He says the woman has damaged the vehicle’s door and is refusing to co-operate with officers.
“Law Enforcement officers are trying to get the woman to come out from under the vehicle, but she is extremely difficult and is not co-operating. It appears that the officers tried to arrest her and she is trying to avoid being arrested.”
