TBS, who promotes a positive life changing experience to talented members in the communities, said children are exposed to various movies but not many are exposed to how it’s being created.

Kyron Daniels from Rosendal Primary and Matthew Matthee from Delft North Primary received an educational lecture on movie prosthetics and make-up. The highlight of the experience was when they were transformed into zombies and Halloween monsters by the Touched by Style movie-effects artists.

“The kids in the communities have extraordinary qualities” said Patrick Lategan from Touched by Style.

“This is an overwhelming experience for young curious minds who love being close to the real thing. Kids use imagination and put a character into play by adding to their already-creative mind, we just opened a new door for them to encounter the magic of prosthetics and make up. Seeing that we were close to Halloween we used the monster and horror theme to create magical effects.”

The TBS team makes it part of the 2024 programme to visit schools, giving free movie effects workshops. Lategan also wants to invest in creating motion pictures for children to be involved in.
