TLC Outreach Projects in Table View celebrated the launch of its new Charity Shop — a heartfelt tribute to Claudine van Wyk, a family member and long-time part of the TLC family who passed away two months ago. The opening, marked by joyful balloon popping, cupcakes, and prizes, brought together community members, local organisations, and Ward councillor Sue van der Linde.

The event reflected TLC’s 28-year journey of service and its renewed commitment to creating sustainable change. “This new chapter is about more than a shop — it’s about opportunity,” said Colleen Pietersen from TLC Outreach Projects. “Every donation, every item sold helps us fund empowerment programmes and support families breaking free from addiction and poverty.”
Programmes
TLC’s holistic approach includes Women Empowerment initiatives, GBV (Gender-Based Violence) support, and the MenMatter programme — all designed to foster healing and self-reliance. The newly established Skills Centre, led by founders Soso and Colleen, will serve as a training hub offering practical skills and art therapy through volunteer artist Lihle Matini.

“Our goal is to empower those in need to create sustainable income and rebuild their lives,” Pietersen added. “With community support, we can continue to transform lives and build hope.”
TLC Outreach Projects invites the public to partner with them by donating unwanted goods or sharing skills and expertise. Donations can be collected from Monday to Thursday or dropped off at the TLC office.
