At least three people have been killed in two separate incidences and all of them were shot in the head.

According to Lentegeur Police Station spokesperson Const Navon van Houten officers responded to a shooting in Pasteur Court, Woodlands just after 19:00 on 20 July.

“A female was shot in the head,” he said.

Van Houten said the motive for the shooting was unknown, but it was in the area of the Fancy Boy gang.

Two hours later police responded to reports of another shooting on the corner of Kreupelhout and Lobelia streets, Lentegeur.

Three people were shot, two fatally. The third was rushed to hospital by ambulance.

“A male and female were shot multiple times in the head and another male was rushed to hospital by ambulance,” Van Houten said. “The motive is gang-related.”

According to crime-watch WhatsApp groups there was a third fatal shooting this morning in Salvia Street, Lentegeur, but police had yet to confirm this.

Lentegeur Community Police Forum (CPF) chairperson Michael Jacobs said the group strongly condemned the killings.

“As the Lentegeur CPF we condemn the killings in Woodlands and Lentegeur in the strongest possible terms,” he said, “and ask the police to ensure the perpetrators are hunted down and arrested.”

The incidents follow a week of relative calm. Three weeks ago the Mitchell’s Plain and Lentegeur CPFs called an urgent meeting in response to a deadly weekend of gang violence, across several suburbs, where at least nine people were shot dead.
