Three people died in an accident last Friday night on the R27 between Melkbosstrand and Table Bay Mall.

Maxine Bezuidenhout, spokesperson for the City’s Traffic Service says they attended to the accident and assisted with road closures. Three vehicles were involved, resulting in three fatalities. 

“The accident scene was cleared at 02:24 on Saturday 11 May,” she says.

The R27 was closed from Big Bay Boulevard to Atlantic Beach and motorists were urged to use alternative routes.

Community Medics says their dedicated volunteer team members were on the scene to assist. 

“Thank you to all the other emergency services who were also on scene.”

The Melkbosstrand Community Police Forum (CPF) released a statement on Saturday extending their gratitude to the Melkbosstrand NHW and Community Safety and Support (CSS) team of volunteers.

“We pass on our condolences to those families who lost loved ones last night.”

“And all other resources who responded to the fatal accident scene on the R27 last night through to this morning. We would like to express our sincere appreciation to the community volunteers for their unwavering dedication and support in assisting during this challenging time. Thank you for your continued commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of our community. We pass on our condolences to those families who lost loved ones last night.”

Website 1Second also reported on Friday that three vehicles, a blue Ford Ranger, a white Toyota Hilux and a white Ford Fiesta were involved in the accident.

“West Coast road command methane report three blue patients, three red patients, two orange patients and one yellow patient being conveyed to various hospitals by various services,” a statement by them reads.

The case is still under investigation.
