Three arrests were made after the stabbing incident that took place outside J.G. Meiring High School in Goodwood.

On Wednesday 14 February at about 17:00 three suspects (two men and a woman) aged 19 were arrested following the stabbing incident on Monday 12 January in which a 16-year-old Grade 11 learner from J.G. Meiring High School was stabbed outside the school on his way home.

“The suspects are due to appear in the Goodwood Magistrates’ Court once charged,” says the provincial police spokesperson Capt Frederick van Wyk.

John Ross, the Goodwood Community Policing Forum (CPF) chair, says the CPF welcomes the arrests and looks forward to a successful prosecution.

Monte Vista Plattekloof Glen Neighbourhood Watch asked the public to stop spreading false news, as the learner did not pass away, as some posts on social media say. According to Ross, he made enquiries at Goodwood police and was assured that the victim was stable.

However, “proper steps need to be implemented to prevent a repeat of this violent attack,” says Ross.
