While patrolling in Bishop Lavis on Tuesday night police
arrested three men for illegal possession of unlicensed/prohibited firearms and
live ammunition.
Police spokesperson Constable Samantha Adonis says that the
arrest happened at about 20:30 in the gang violence/threats
area.
“While the police were patrolling in Keurberg road they saw
a group of suspects standing in front of a house that was under attack on
Friday.”
“When the group spotted the police vehicles they started
running but the members gave chase on foot.”
She says police officers confiscated an Uzzi assault rifle
with 40 live ammunition rounds, a z88 9mm with 17 rounds of ammunition and a
Norinco Star 9mm pistol and eight 9mm rounds in the men’s possession.
The three males will appear in the Bishop Lavis Magistrates
Court on Friday 2017-07-28.
