A Matroosfonetin woman was held up with a bottle neck during a robbery at her home on Monday (15 May).
Elsies River police spokesperson, Captain Daphne O’Reilly, says shortly after 11:30 the 32-year-old woman was drying her baby in her house in Commercial Road, when she saw an unknown man inside her bedroom.
“The man was holding a broken bottle neck and threatened the woman saying he was going to kill her. He allowed her to finish drying the baby and picked up a knife in the house and threw the bottle neck in the toilet.”
O’Reilly says the man then took various valuables including cash, laptops, cellphones, jewellery and even the baby’s nappies before jumping through the window and fleeing the scene.
The woman and her baby were unharmed in the incident.
