Several social media reports about an explosion in Brackenfell sent tongues wagging on Thursday night (26 January).
However, police say there has been no report about an explosion.
A post on a Brackenfell Facebook page asking whether anybody had heard the explosion garnered several responses from residents with some confirming they too heard a bang and others saying they heard nothing.
TygerBurger checked with several City and police officials who could not confirm an explosion.
According to Brackenfell police spokesperson, Captain Erica Crous, says police have no record or report of an explosion in the precinct.
“Nothing was reported to police and I have checked with police officers and there is no confirmation of an explosion.”
