Two alleged teen robbers are expected to appear in the Khayelitsha Magistrate’s Court tomorrow (Friday 30 January) for allegedly robbing Emergency Medical Services (EMS) personnel.
According to a statement by provincial police spokesperson Captain FC van Wyk, EMS staff were attending to a patient in Mandela Park on Tuesday 27 December at about 07:30, when they were held up by two armed males who took their cellphones.
On Wednesday, officers followed up on tip-offs from the community and arrested the two teens – both aged 19– and confiscated a toy gun believed to have been used in the robbery.
“Further investigation led to the arrest of a third perpetrator who was in possession of the stolen items he had purchased from the perpetrators. The three suspects aged 19 and 24 will appear in the Khayelitsha Magistrate’s Court on Friday,” Van Wyk said.
