A Bonteheuwel teen is fighting for his life after he was shot on his way to school this morning.

According to a report from Bishop Lavis police spokesperson, Captain Marie Louw, the 17-year-old boy was waiting on the corners of Redberry Street and Bonteheuwel Avenue at 08:00 for his lift when he was approached by two suspects who shot the teen in the face.

“He was taken to [a] Day Hospital and was transferred to Groote Schuur Hospital. Police opened an attempted murder docket and the possibility of this being gang-related is also under investigation.”

Louw says the teen is a learner at the School of Skills in Elsies River.
