Table View twins treated for smoke inhalation

Two Table View siblings were treated for minor smoke inhalation following a fire at their home in Blaauwberg Road on Sunday (21 May).

Table View twins (aged 2 years old) were treated for minor smoke inhalation following a fire at their home in Blaauwberg Road on Sunday 21 May.

According to a report from ER24 paramedics, the twins were sleeping in their room while the caretaker was playing with their four-year-old sibling outside in the garden.

“The caretaker noticed the smoke and immediately went into the house to rescue the twins. Unfortunately, she was unable to do so due to the heavy smoke and called for assistance. It is believed that the parents arrived at the house and managed to get the twins from their room prior to the fire [services] and paramedics’ arrival,” says ER24 spokesperson Werner Vermaak.

Fire and Rescue Services spokesperson, Tracey Whittaker, says 14 firefighters in four rescue vehicles responded to the incident.
“The fire originated in the kitchen and was due to an electrical fault. The fire was extinguished by the owner before the arrival of the firefighters,” she says.

“Both patients were transported to Milnerton Medi-Clinic by ER24,” she says.
