A Table View resident was robbed of his cash this week after he had been followed home from the bank, the police say.
Captain Adriana Chandler, Table View police spokesperson, says the incident occurred on Wednesday 14 June at midday.
According to information the complainant made a withdrawal at a nearby bank and was on his way home when he was attacked in Guilford Road.
“Three men jumped out of a vehicle, all armed with firearms, whilst another remained seated inside the vehicle.
“They approached the victim and demanded the cash, which he threw at them. They then demanded the keys to the vehicle and his cellular telephone. The victim threw it towards the armed men and ran inside the house,” Chandler says.
She says the suspects fled the scene towards Parklands.
“The cellphone was later recovered on a bridge in Malibongwe Drive, allegedly thrown out of the window. The phone was traced by a tracker.”
According to the police all of the suspects had their faces covered.
The victim reported the incident to the Parklands police who accompanied him back home.
“He was not injured during the incident and no shots were fired,” Chandler says.
Victim support was offered to the victim, but he declined, stating that he was “okay”.
Anyone with information on the suspects are requested to contact the Table View police on 021 521 3300 or Crime Stop on 08600 10111.
