Table View Neighbourhood Watch (TVNW) has once again urged residents to remain alert as hot, windy conditions continue to heighten the risk of veld fires in the area. With grass and reed patches extremely dry at this time of year even a small spark can quickly escalate into a dangerous blaze.
On Sunday (16 November) TVNW received multiple calls about a fire along the R27.
“Thanks to the quick reporting from residents, emergency services were able to respond and escalate the situation immediately,” said Luara Outhet, TVNW media liaison. While voice notes were also shared on community WhatsApp groups, TVNW emphasised that direct calls remain the fastest and most effective way to get help.
Table View police, Disaster Risk Management, Fire & Rescue and TVNW volunteers worked together on the scene to manage traffic, protect pedestrians and bring the fire under control. Fortunately, the blaze was contained before it could spread further.
TVNW continues to appeal to residents: stay vigilant, report any signs of smoke or fire immediately and help keep the community safe during this high-risk season.
