The Older Adults Swimming Programme at the Blue Downs Pool has come to a close for the year and all involved are bursting with pride after a successful year.

Dawn Julies, spokesperson for the says they want to express their deepest gratitude deepest gratitude to everyone who made this journey possible. “Our dedicated participants, the passionate Jacobus Micheals, the trainer and all the stakeholders who supported this initiative. This programme has been more than just swimming—it has been a source of joy, resilience, and community. Week after week the participants showed courage and commitment, proving that active aging is not only possible but empowering. The energy and determination inspired us all,” says Julies.

Lighter, happier, stronger

According to Julies the programme will reopen in February 2026, and they invite even more older adults to join. “If you’ve been sitting at home feeling isolated or overwhelmed by life’s pressures, this is your chance to break free, connect, and rediscover your vitality. Every session leaves you feeling lighter, happier, and stronger—because taking time for yourself is worth it. Let’s make 2026 even bigger and better. Spread the word, bring a friend, and let’s continue promoting active aging together,” she says.
