Housebreaking suspects who are possibly linked to other cases, were nabbed in Bellville today.
According to Warrant Officer Henriëtta van Niekerk, spokesperson of the Bellville police, an attempted housebreaking happened on Wednesday 17 May in Loevenstein where a white Huyndai H1 was used.
“On Friday, 19 May, this vehicle was again spotted in Stellenberg. District Basset armed response followed the suspicious vehicle and alerted police.”
The vehicle was pulled over and searched.
“Inside the vehicle they found a crowbar and socks that they believe the suspects put over their hands to hide fingerprints whenever the break into houses,” she said.
Capt Tobie Engelbrecht and Warrant Officer JP Smit arrested four suspects, aged 27, 26, 34 and 28, from Khayelitsha and Nyanga.
According to Van Niekerk the vehicle is registered in a company’s name.
“The possibility exist that they can be linked to other cases and this is currently under investigation.”
