A 21-year-old Valhalla Park man has been arrested for the
murder of well-known former Bishop Lavis police reservist, Gregory ‘Kallie’
Carelse. Carelse was also the chief security officer at the Western Cape
department of community safety.
The 56-year-old was allegedly gunned down by two men on the
corner of Kasteelberg Road and Barracuda Crescent in Bishop Lavis at 17:45 on
Thursday 18 October. One of the suspects was reportedly also shot and killed in
the incident.
Provincial police spokesperson Captain FC van Wyk said the
man was arrested yesterday afternoon at about 17:00 following information
police received from the community. “He is due to appear in court once
charged.”
