The action thriller STRESS, chapter one of a three-part short film series, will be released on 6 October on the Touched By Style Youtube channel and will be hosted at the FoolProof film festival in Nelson Mandela Bay on 28 October.

According to Nic Matthee from Touched by Style (TBS), writer of the film, the idea behind the story is to highlight the psychological dangers and the internal damage stress can have on a person.

“Stress disadvantages people from coping with unbearable and toxic environments,” he said.

“This is what the lead character goes through when she is challenged with daily abuse in her workplace and it’s a very relatable challenge, which exists in many people to a point where they potentially self-destruct.”

Proudly and locally produced by the 10-time award winning community-based organisation TBS Films, it adds another productive project that represents youth, talent and a positive life-changing experience.

According to Matthee the project took three months of planning and developing, bringing together creative ideas and minds, teamwork and the support from the communities during the production process.

Co-founder Patrick Lategan said filming and active community development is not easy.

“To make it work one has to make it part of one’s personality,” he said. “The more films we create the bigger the opportunity for talented members of the community to shine. This is also a call for local filmmakers to create more film projects involving the community.”

TBS films is already preparing the sequel to STRESS for 2024 that will focus on the serious subject of bullying and self harm.
