Every June, Heart FM’s 16 Days for Youth campaign transforms communities and creates lasting impact in areas that need it most.

Learning spaces enhanced

According to Octotel CSR team lead Carly Haydricks, being on the ground with the community for this initiative was vital.

“It is one thing to support from afar, but it is something entirely different to roll up your sleeves and get involved. When our staff physically participate—whether it is painting, donating food, or engaging in projects—it creates a real connection. Therefore, it’s not just about giving—it’s about showing up and making a meaningful difference together.”

Together, the teams renovated Butterfly House in Paarl.

They repainted playground equipment and delivered essential items like toiletries and blankets.

At Stepping Stones in Zonnebloem, they enhanced learning spaces by sanding and painting. They also donated educational equipment and planted vegetable seedlings to support the centre’s kitchen.

The team at Stepping Stones Children’s Centre shared their heartfelt appreciation for the visit: “Thank you to Octotel for coming onboard and partnering with us,” said Rochelle Fleshman, operations manager.

“I am so overwhelmed by all the generosity and kindness. The fact that you could bring more than what you did—and are still doing—means the world to us. We appreciate all that you have given to us through this 16 Days of Youth initiative. From all of us at Stepping Stones Children’s Centre, thank you very much.”

Murals brightens home

At Bright Stars in Kraaifontein, the group brightened the walls with a colourful mural. They also stocked food cupboards to sustain the community through winter.

More than just donations and renovations, the heart of the campaign lies in the human connection. Staff from Octotel and RSAWeb volunteered their time and energy, showing genuine care and commitment beyond the typical corporate sponsorship.

Heart FM echoed the value of the partnership and Octotel’s hands-on commitment.
“What truly stands out about
Octotel is their authentic and engaged approach,” said Cassidy Da Silva, Show Producer at Heart FM.

“They do not just support from the sidelines – they get involved. Whether it is sending teams out on the ground, offering resources, or engaging with the communities we visit, they showed up in meaningful ways. Additionally, there is a genuine spirit of care and collaboration in everything they do. That level of alignment, both in values and action, is what makes this partnership so impactful.”
