SPCA probes baboon limbs found in Boston

Baboon limbs found hanging at perimeter wall of Boston home

The Cape of Good Hope SPCA has made a grisly discovery at a Boston home.

SPCA spokesperson, Tara McGovern, says on Friday 17 March their inspectors followed up on an anonymous tip-off that led to a shocking discovery at a house in Boston.

“Upon arrival at the house, our inspectors found two severed baboon hands and a severed foot dangling from the property’s perimeter wall. The occupants of the house alleged that they had removed the limbs from a dead baboon that they had found on a farm and then hung them over the wall to protect their home from intruders. They remain uncooperative with regards to the location of the farm or the baboon’s remains, which the SPCA would like to recover for forensic purposes.”

McGovern says they are committed to uncovering the truth in this matter, and have joined forces with the South African Police Services and Cape Nature.

“In the interim, the limbs are being examined to enable us to ascertain the age of the baboon in question and any other information which may benefit our investigation.”
