South Africa will return to the UAE SWAT Challenge 2026, a leading international tactical policing competition, represented by its Police Special Task Force to be hosted in Dubai.
The force will compete alongside elite tactical units from around the world in five demanding challenges that test physical endurance, tactical precision, teamwork and performance under pressure. South Africa’s return reflects the unit’s high level of professionalism, operational readiness and experience in specialised policing on a global stage.
Seventh edition
The seventh edition of the challenge will take place from 7 to 11 February at the Training City in Al Ruwayyah, Dubai, attracting wide international attention and strong public engagement.
For supporters in South Africa and around the world who are unable to attend in person the competition will be broadcast live on the official UAE SWAT Challenge YouTube channel. Viewers are encouraged to watch online, follow the action and show their support digitally.
Amongst the countries that particpating are Argentina, Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Belarus, Bolivia, Bosnia, Brazil, Brunei, Cameroon, Chile, China, Colombia, Dominican Republic, Ecuador and El Salvador.
Most teams have already arrived in Dubai and have started intensive training in preparation for the event.
Professionalism
Officials noted that the early arrival of teams reflects a high level of commitment and professionalism, with participants demonstrating strong readiness for the demanding challenges that define the competition. Many teams also undertook extensive preparations in their home countries, carefully selecting elite personnel capable of achieving top scores across all stages of the challenge.
“Teams have already begun training on the five core challenges of the UAE SWAT Challenge: Hostage Rescue, Assault, Officer Rescue, the Tower Challenge, and the Obstacle Course. Each challenge tests speed, precision, teamwork, and tactical skill, requiring competitors to complete tasks in the shortest possible time while maintaining accuracy in shooting, handling multiple weapons, carrying heavy dummies, overcoming complex obstacles, and descending from elevated towers using ropes,” reads a statement form the organisers.
