Search continues for Elsies toddler

Police say the search of a dump site turned out to be a dead dog.

The search of a dump site in Elsies River for a missing toddler was unsuccessful on Sunday (7 May).

For several days now, police and community organisations have been searching for three-year-old Courtney Peters who went missing on Thursday 4 May.

Police spokesperson, Captain Daphne O’Reilly, says the girl was last seen playing with her friends in Pluto Street in Salberau.

O’Reilly says a foul smell coming from a dump site on the corner of Pluto Street and Grand Vue Avenue prompted the search by police units.

She confirms that the origin of the smell was a dead dog and says along with the Community Policing Forum (CPF) and other community organisations, police are continuing the search.

At the time of her disappearance, Courtney was wearing a white and yellow t-shirt with blue shorts.

Anyone with information is asked to call the investigating officer on 079 894 0107 or Elsies River police on 021 933 0308.
