In response to “Skool toon nie belangstelling” (TygerBurger 20 August), I agree 100%. Schools do not care about the children that are struggling.
All effort and attention is given to the children that get 90%. As long as their end figure looks good.
My son actually failed last year, I asked that they please keep him back (apparently not my choice), they “found” marks to push him through.
He has not passed one term yet to date in the new grade. What happened to children repeating a grade? They just get moved up and it’s the next teachers problem!
I have now written my son in for “homeschooling” next year, costing a small fortune, but he needs just that little extra attention.
What they teaching children now days is way above my means of helping and let’s not talk about their projects. I don’t think we even learn half the stuff when I was in high school. They making the children grow up way too fast and too much pressure!
