RR Franks gets its first female principal

For the first time in the school’s 105 year history a woman has been appointed as the principal at RR Franks Primary School in Eerste River.

For the first time in the school’s 105 year history a woman has been appointed as the principal at RR Franks Primary School in Eerste River.

Blanche Julies, who has been in the education sector for 39 years, says her teaching filosophy is that every learner learns differently.

“My focus is not if a child can learn, but how he learns. At RR Franks every kind and all kinds of learners are welcome,” says Julies.

Julies has been a head of department for seven of her 39 years and has a clear plan for what she wants to achieve at the school.

“I want to change the school into a functional, full service school where we promote inclusion, where we act with kindness and celebrate diversity. We need to respect all,” says Julies.

She has a message for the broader school community and parents of learners. “Your child is welcome here.”

Pieter September, a member of staff at the school describes Julies as an exceptional educator. “Julies have very good leadership skills and is someone who gives her best for the school in all facets. She has love for everyone from the learners to the parents and everyone who works at the school. I believe that everything she want to achieve at the school will come to fruition,” says September.

Julies started on 1 August at the school. RR Franks, previously known as Kleinvlei Primary School, changed its name to RR Franks in honour of a previous principal.
