Armed robbers opened fire on a Table View man this morning after a house robbery in Arum Road.
Police spokesperson, Captain Adriana Chandler, says at 08:45 a domestic worker was walking her employer’s dogs and as she approached the house in Arum Road, the owner was on his way out.
Chandler says the owner noticed something was wrong and three unknown men, of which two were armed, suddenly appeared and threatened the resident and domestic worker.
“They went into the house and demanded cash. The homeowner indicated he did not have any and the suspects wanted the safe. During this time the owner’s son and daughter-in-law arrived at the house. The daughter-in-law entered the house and she too was held up by the suspects.”
Chandler says the son heard screams and left his vehicle when he saw the three suspects leaving the property. The robbers then dropped the safe and escaped in their vehicle.
The son then allegedly chased after the robbers who opened fire on him. “The bullets just missed. “In Raats Drive the robbers were blocked off by taxis and as local security companies and neighbourhood watches responded the robbers got out of their vehicle and started to run.”
Chandler says two of the men were caught and arrested while the third suspect escaped.
