Two men are due to appear in the Goodwood Magistrate’s Court today, Monday February 19, for the possession of drugs worth R8.9 million.
The Hawks’ South African Narcotics Enforcement Bureau, or SANEB, together with Crime Intelligence and the Flying Squad, swiftly acted on information and intercepted a vehicle that was reportedly transporting drugs on the evening of Friday 16 February.
Hawks spokesperson, Captain Philani Nkwalase, explains: “The vehicle was spotted on Owen Road in Elsies River, and upon searching the said vehicle, 20 bags containing packets of thousand Mandrax tablets worth over R8.9 million were seized. Two suspects aged 32 and 42 were arrested on alleged charges of dealing in and possession of drugs.”
