Members of the Plattekloof, Welgelegen, Panorama and Kleinbosch (PWP) Neighbourhood Watch visited the City of Cape Town’s offices recently to meet with Mayor Geordin Hill-Lewis and Mayco member for safety and security, JP Smith.
At the meeting PWP presented the City with an award, in recognition of its unwavering commitment to public service and community safety. The award also serves as a token of appreciation for the City’s dedication to enhancing the well-being and quality of life of its residents, says Jaco Naudé, PWP member.
“From public safety to essential services, the efforts of the City of Cape Town and its staff across all departments play a vital role in building a safer, stronger, and more vibrant city. This award serves as a heartfelt acknowledgment of their tireless work and dedication to the people of Cape Town,” says Naudé.
Smith says it was indeed an honour to receive the award and have their efforts in keeping communities safe acknowledged.
“The safety and security directorate works closely with neighbourhood watches across the City as fighting crime, and keeping residents safe, is a job we cannot do alone. It is these volunteers, members of watches, forums and other organisations, who are the true heroes.
“They patrol the streets, giving of their time and resources, to ensure the rest of their families and neighbours can sleep soundly. We are proud to partner with them and will continue to support them in their endeavours,” says Smith.
Naudé says PWP Neighbourhood Watch, alongside the broader community, extends its deepest gratitude to the City and its employees for their invaluable contributions to making Cape Town a better place for all.
