The recent pandemic has shown us the stark challenges many institutions face in keeping their doors open. Recognising this, Eyrho Bright Beginning, a preschool located at 20 Alice Street in Goodwood, has taken the initiative to support institutions in need, particularly those serving the most vulnerable: the elderly and children.
“Our experience with Covid-19 made us realise just how much struggle there is to keep essential services running,” says Cecil April, a teacher from Eyrho Bright Beginning. “That’s why we decided to extend a helping hand to those who need it the most. We believe that old people and children are especially vulnerable. The pension and child grants they receive are not enough to live on,” says April.
The need is especially pressing at Lily Haven in Bonteheuwel. “We’re glad we could help out and we won’t stop helping. If there are any volunteers who could assist with donations, it would be greatly appreciated. We plan to continue this effort twice a year,” says April.
For the past three years, Eyrho Bright Beginning has been dedicated to making a difference through donations collected from parents and staff. In 2022, donations were given to Elsies River Raffa Church, and in 2023, they were presented to Hope Of Africa. Additionally, in December 2023, the preschool organized a Secret Santa event.
Mandela Day
On Thursday July 18, marking Mandela Day, the preschool set their sights on making a difference at Lily Haven in Bonteheuwel. This heartfelt gesture underscores their commitment to community service and support for those in need.
Eyrho Bright Beginning is calling on volunteers to assist with donations. Contributions of goods and services will significantly aid their efforts in supporting Lily Haven and other institutions in need.
