After starting a pre-primary with only five children over a decade ago, Michelle Vamvadelis received a welcome boost when she became one of the lucky winners of a R40 000 cash prize.

This thanks to a lucky draw made possible by Business Partners situated in Durbanville who has been investing in entrepreneurs for the past 40 years.

To mark their 40th anniversary, Business Partners has been giving away a R40 000 cash prize to two clients monthly.

“Winners are randomly selected by our internal auditors from our database and we are proud to announce the first six winners. That is R320 000 in cash prizes over four months,” said Anton Roelofse, regional general manager at Business Partners during the handover on Thursday 3 February at the school.

Vamvadelis says the announcement came as a surprise.

“It really was a nice surprise. I’m still shocked. This just validates what I’ve been doing a little bit. Running a school is tough,” says Vamvadelis.

Big Fish Little Fish is a Christian based Montessori pre-primary school and has been serving the greater Table View / Parklands area for 13 years.

The school is owned and operated by Vamvadelis. Having acquired the business in February 2006, it was transformed into a Montessori school for children aged from birth to six years, offering a Montessori learning experience in which children are encouraged to learn at their own pace and in which they gain independence and a love of learning. Asked what she will be doing with the funds, she says to beautify the school is her aim this year.

“This year we would like to spend fundraising money on equipment in the garden. Refurbishing the garden is definitely on my list this year,” she says.
