Police seize mandrax worth R800 000

The tablets, made up in 20 packs, were hidden in the cab of the truck and were confiscated.


Two people were arrested in Belhar on Wednesday morning (25 October) when they were found with mandrax tablets worth R800 000.

Western Cape police spokesperson, Colonel Lieutenant André Traut, says members of the Western Cape Flying Squad reacted on intelligence and apprehended two suspects for being in possession of the tablets.

“The truck that the suspects were travelling in was spotted and pulled over in Modderdam Road, Belhar. The tablets, made up in 20 packs, were hidden in the cab of the truck and were confiscated.”

He says the two suspects aged 29 and 31 are due to make a court appearance in Bishop Lavis once they have been charged with dealing in drugs.
