Brackenfell police last week clamped down on a house in Springbok Park that was being used for prostitution.
After receiving a tip-off some time ago that the premises in Gert Kotze Street were being utilised by prostitutes, the police set in motion an undercover operation.
According to Captain Erica Crous, spokesperson for the Brackenfell police, the house was observed over a period of time. “Further investigation also revealed that these services were being advertised over the internet,” says Crous.
The operation unfolded on Thursday evening when police entered the house, where they found a 27-year old woman. They also found cash, female condoms and lubricants, according to Crous.
Crous was unable to divulge any further details surrounding the operation, as it could hamper the ongoing investigation.
“The woman from Khayelitsha was arrested for prostitution under the Sexual Offences Act,” says Crous. She appeared in the Kuils River Magistrate’s Court on Monday 16 October 2017.
